Survey Questions REALTORs Roles In Real Estate Reporting?

I have received mixed feedback over the years regarding my style of real estate reporting and whether or not I am providing a valuable service to people involved in the Tallahassee real estate market.

I love feedback, whether positive or negative, as it helps provide guidance for the future articles that I publish here. My focus has centered around real estate reporting and the topics that are important to our customers who are buying a home or selling a home in Tallahassee.

Recently, I received (in the same day) two very opposite bits of reader feedback, and both related to my real estate reporting.

The first was praise from a customer who felt that the reports on the Tallahassee Real Estate Website helped her make some tough decisions on what she needed to do with her home, while the second came from a customer who felt that I was too negative and that I should be “pumping up the market.”

Real Estate Reporting In TallahasseeThat, of course, made me curious. I do not feel like I am negative at all, I am just reporting current housing information and then offering my best advice under the circumstances.

But I wonder if other readers feel strongly either way. Is it my role in real estate reporting to only post when positive events happen? Should I buy some pom poms and cheer like the staff at NAR? I will turn to our readers for their opinions.

    Mr. Manausa,
Your poll of 18JUN12, as tongue-in-cheek as I suspect it is, prompted me to post this comment. I subscribe to your newsletter, and read the blog regularly. Your work is refreshingly clear and to the point; it answers my questions directly and with a minimum of fluff. I hope you will continue to make the investment of time and energy in your blog and newsletters.

  2. Thank you Craig. Let’s just say “mostly” tongue in cheek :). I get the occasional real estate agent telling me that my job is to “pump up the market” and I figured I would put it out there to see if there was any momentum behind such craziness. Thanks for the nice comment.
